Is your PHP app safe from PHP2Shell?

On 21 October 2026, PHP released fixes for two critical flaws known as PHP2Shell (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619). They let an attacker run code on your web server without logging in, and they affect almost every PHP version from the last decade. The fix is to upgrade to PHP 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36 or 8.2.35. PHP 8.1 and older may not get a fix at all.

If your app is stuck on an old version, upgrading is rarely a one-line change.

I specialise in custom PHP apps, and I'm a Zend Certified PHP Engineer. I recently migrated a PHP API from Lumen to Laravel 13 and from PHP 7.4 to 8.5. If you'd like someone to look at yours, I'm available.

An AI front desk for small businesses. I designed and built it end to end and launched it in October 2026. It answers customers on the web, by email, by text and over the phone, then hands the conversation to a person when it needs one.

Working together

I work remotely, splitting my time between the UK and Vietnam, and I'm happy to jump on a Teams, Zoom or Google Meet call. You deal directly with me, the person doing the work, with no account managers and no hand-offs. There are three ways to hire me.

Build

Contract development, fixed-term or ongoing. I can join your team for a while or take a product from first sketch to launch myself, across web, mobile and desktop.

Rescue

Old PHP apps brought up to date and made secure. I specialise in custom PHP apps: I've upgraded legacy PHP 5 and 7 systems, brought outsourced codebases back in-house and fixed live systems under pressure.

Lead

Fractional CTO for start-ups and small businesses, a few days a month. I've been CTO of Simitive with a seat on the board, and for 13 years my agency, The DisRUPtion Laboratory, took start-ups from idea to MVP and beyond.
